Sustainable Soils for Landscaping

The presenter is Sharon May with Agri Services Inc.
Sharon May has maintained a passion for growing since childhood and thrives while helping others find success with plants and landscapes. She believes that gardening begins from the ground down, with sustainable soil for optimum plant growth and water efficiency. As Director of Marketing and Sales at Agri Service Inc., a local greenwaste recycling company, she has the opportunity to do just that with products from El Corazon Compost facility.
Prior to joining the composting and soil side of the industry, Sharon opened the Landscape Design Department at Walter Andersen Nursery. In search of better solutions for landscapes, she became an advocate for the importance of soil preparation and benefits of mulching.
Sharon has taught landscape classes, appeared on radio programs, and designed the landscape for SDHS Showcase House 2003. Her work has been published in Sunset Magazine, Better Homes and Gardens, Garden Shed and San Diego Home and Garden. After completing her MBA at the UCLA Andersen School of Management, May worked at Xerox in Strategic Marketing and at Hewlett Packard, Computer Division. Her undergraduate studies at San Jose State University culminated in teaching Art and Biology/Botany.
Sharon currently serves on the Board of Trustees for the San Diego Botanical Garden and the California Landscape Contractors Assocation. She has served previously on the Boards of the National Charity League, Inc., LEAD, San Diego, Inc., and the Junior League of San Diego.
